Hey Roseville moms and photographers, if you find yourself looking for the best locations for family photos in Roseville, you have found THE blog post to help you decide. I'm a local mom myself (and a Roseville family photographer) and I'm constantly on the hunt for spacious locations to take photos of my clients.
Top Family Photo Locations in Roseville
There are so many awesome photography spots in Roseville! Below I've outlines my top 3 spots.
#1 - Bev Bos Park Trails (Roseville, CA)
If you live in or near West Roseville, you probably know and love the paved trails that wander all the way down Blue Oaks Blvd. The farther you get from the freeway, the more natural the scenery becomes.
One of my favorite parts to shoot photos at is Bev Bos Park. There is a trailhead straight to the left of the park that opens into a beautiful meadow. It's easily accessible, which is ideal for families with young kids.
At the end of the short trail, you will hit a large oak tree that is great for backlit photos. Make your way back along the trail as the sun sets for those perfect grassy meadow shots.
This meadow trail is pretty usable year-round, but especially beautiful when the grass is tall and yellow-ish-white.

#2 - Miners Ravine Trail (Rocklin, CA)
If you live in Rocklin or Roseville, you've probably walked along this long, 9-mile nature trail.
This trail is LARGE, with spots all along the way that could be used for a great photo op.
My favorite spot to enter is the Miner's Ravine Orvietto Drive Entrance. It's just a short walk to the grassy meadow area that's filled with large oak trees.
During the springtime and early summer, there is a flurry of wildflowers-- beautiful purple wildflowers (not sure of the name) and orange and yellow poppies. These are great for spring minis and classic family sessions.
This field is my favorite in the springtime-- so great and lush!
#3 - Sunset Whitney Recreation Area (Rocklin, CA)
Sunset Whitney in Rocklin is a hidden gem. I only discovered this nature-filled trail because my parents use it regularly and recommended it to me.
This trail is long and beautiful-- at the start of the trail is a large beautiful foothill backdrop. I recommend starting there. You can also get some lovely photos in the grassy areas near the start of the trail.
There's also a grassy area right before the entrance of the recreation area that is great for backlit photos since there is a long row of trees.
Along the trail there are large eucalyptus trees with long, whispy branches of eucalyptus leaves. They really remind me of weeping willows, and are great for incorporating into your medium shots of the family. Get them in-between the long willowing branches for some amazing layers and depth!
Conclusion
I hope this blog post was helpful for you and gave you some great locations to check out for your next family session!
